There have been lots of activities going on in school this week for Food For life Week. The children were visited by a local farmer and a member of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. They learned about where their food comes from and how the crops grown on the farm are used. The SNAG and ECO Group went to visit a local farm then gave an assembly to the rest of the school. Lunchtimes had an international theme, with food from a different country everyday. The children were joined for lunch by residents from a care home in Yeadon, a local Councillor and the Lord Mayor of Leeds. The children made flapjacks and shortbread biscuits to sell at the Christmas Fair and help set up and run the stalls. The fair raised £699. A nutritionist gave an assembly about healthy eating and the Eatwell Plate. The children have baked and prepared food including smoothies, banana sandwiches and quiches.
