Footwear

From September Yeadon Westfield Infant School will be joining the Daily Mile Initiative. It is a profoundly simple but effective concept and its impact can be transformational – improving not only the children’s fitness but also their concentration levels, mood, behaviour and general wellbeing.  The Daily Mile is a social activity wherein the children run or jog – at their own pace – in the fresh air with friends for 15 minutes. The children will run in their ordinary school clothes with trainers. We are therefore asking children to come to school in trainers rather than school shoes from September.  We would encourage parents to buy trainers that have Velcro fasteners (for ease) and to stay away from named brands if possible.  We would like parents to regard the footwear as work shoes which may get muddy etc (this will be evidence that they are having fun learning). Cheap sturdy trainers such as they sell at Asda or Tesco would be perfect.

School uniform embroidered with our logo is available from Tesco online and can be purchased from P.C. Sports who are located on Yeadon High Street.

When the weather is wet the children will need some outdoor shoes or wellingtons to change in to.

Please provide your child with a named water bottle.  It would also be useful if they have a book bag.  These can be ordered from Tesco online or we do have some to sell at the school office (£5 each).

Please name as much clothing as possible, particularly jumpers, coats, trainers and Wellington boots.

PE

The children change for PE. PE kits are available to buy on the Tesco website. P.E. is often taught outdoors so children will also need tracksuit bottoms and fleece.

Jewellery

Please can children not wear jewellery to school. One small pair of stud ear-rings are acceptable, but must be removed BY THE CHILD for PE or parent/carers must sign a form to state otherwise.
