The end of another term!

This term has been one of the longest the children have had and it is safe to say we are all ready for a break.

The children have taken this term in their stride and we continue to be so proud of them. Thank you to everyone at home for your continued support throughout.

We have focused on the emotional needs of the children this half term and this continues to be our priority for the rest of the year. The children have all had very different experiences and we have worked on understanding and managing feelings, friendships and school life. Our PSHCE lessons have helped us with this and we have really thought about how best to ensure the children are happy and feel safe in school.

In terms of phonics and reading we have ensured we have worked on any areas the children have needed and they are doing really well. We are pleased with how well the children are doing with their reading and alongside the reading books we have sent home, we have worked on guided reading in class and reading fluency and comprehension.

We are working on our writing and recently have worked on extended pieces of writing. We look forward to you seeing their work and looking at the progress they have made. After the holidays we will be writing another recount and looking closely at how we can improve our writing skills.

We have done lots of PE this half term and the children have really enjoyed it. We have been outside whenever possible (the weather has been unpredictable to say the least) and we will continue with this next term. We have worked on skills like throwing and catching and team games.

There have been some friendship changes and fallings out this half term. This is a culmination of tiredness and change to routine and we want to assure you we are aware of this and are working as a year group to make sure our classes as happy and settled as they can be. We would like to remind you that we are always available to discuss any concerns you may have and our door is always open for a chat.

We hope you all have a well-deserved break over half term and manage to enjoy seeing family, friends and doing exciting things.

The children have so much to be proud of and we are certainly very proud of them!

See you all very soon,

Miss Worton and Mrs Nolan
