Well we’ve done it! Here we are at the end of Reception and what a truly amazing year it has been. All of us could not be any prouder of every single child.
The children have continued to work hard to develop their phonics and writing skills. They are using their phonic knowledge to complete some lovely independent pieces of writing in the areas of provision around the classroom. Please continue to work with your child at home over the holiday. New sounds and red words will be introduced in Year 1 so it is helpful if your child is secure on all the phase 2 and 3 sounds we have introduced this year.
We had a fantastic visit to Hesketh Farm! The children had an amazing day carrying out a range of activities from collecting eggs, making and feeding milk for the calves and holding guinea pigs and chicks. The tractor ride was lots of fun. They were all so well behaved and a real credit to our school. Hopefully you all enjoyed looking at the photos on Tapestry.
Healthy living week highlighted the importance of eating a balanced diet and taking part in physical exercise. Reception thoroughly enjoyed preparing and tasting a selection of fruit and vegetables using the ‘bridge technique’ with a knife. Sports day was hugely enjoyable and it was great to see the children have such a good time and try their best. The children particularly enjoyed making the smoothies on the smoothie bike and found drinking them the best bit. The children have also loved doing dance this half term with Nicola.
Our last week in Reception has been filled with fun, laughter, singing, dancing and lots of love.
We are so proud of how far the children have come on this year. It has been such a privilege to be part of their school journey. The children have shown us how resilient, strong minded, special and unique they are and have tackled everything that has been sent their way.
Miss Holmes and Mrs Whitehead and the Reception team are so proud of all the children’s individual accomplishments throughout the year and we wish them continued success in year 1.
Happy Summer !
