Message to Year 1 Parents 17/09/2020
Date: 17th Sep 2020 @ 8:41am
We have had a great start to our new school year - despite all the difficulties of our current situation! We are very proud of the way the children have come into Year 1 and are also pleased with the way the drop off and pick up systems are working. Thank you so much for your support with this!
We just wanted to clarify a few issues for you. Please ask if there is anything else you need to know.
- Our risk assessment is all about minimising the number of items that come into school from home (coat, water bottle and pack lunch if not on school dinners). To support this, please do not send in bags with the children or allow them to bring other things from home at this stage.
- The children will usually be bringing some of their work home with them at the end of the day, so of course feel free to bring a bag to the door at home time! This work will only have been touched by your child and sometimes an adult with clean hands when it was given out.
- Every day we will do running outside as part of the “Daily Mile” programme, so the children must come to school wearing trainers. Given the children’s age, there is no time in the school day to be changing shoes which is why we made this decision a few years ago.
- Currently we are sending home reading activities and children are reading individually at school. If we feel it is feasible in the future, we will consider having a system for reading books to be sent home and returned.
Thanks again for all your support!
The Year 1 Team.
